Chances Are Waiting To Be Taken

I believe every person has a dream somewhere inside of them. Whether it is a dream to be successful, study abroad, has a happy family, and to be able to travel around the world. We have been taught from we were child to have a dream. Because dream is a starting point to make life more colorful and fulfill human desire that generally will never be satisfied in order to reach their goals. That is human . When I was child I dreamed of becoming a doctor and even an astronaut while i started watching kid’s movies and read kid’s stories also kid’s encyclopedia. But when i got older, the dreams began changing with the times. Instead I’ve got a pretty glorious dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher. hahahaha .. but now is not the slightest thought of me to become a kindergarten teacher. I really love kids, and so far no kids  behaviors that have been making me annoyed, I even think their silly behaviors are really funny. Because they actually have a great desire to know and eventually try to find out what they want to know.

As I said before, the dreams began changing with the times, and now in my age my dreams are more directed and focused, I had a dream to work in a place that can make me learn the other’s culture, full of challenges and meet more people with different personalities. Well.. basically I can get a lot of new lessons because of it. Lately I really have been liking things that related to psychology (just a little bit ). And I was directed to make the oil and gas companies as my main target. And certainly there are many people with different nationalities, different characters, full of challenges jobdesk and all are united by language and communication. That’s very amazing, isn’t it? hehehe. That is one of my dreams. What about yours?

Thank God, He answered my prayer by giving me the opportunity to tread my dream. In the beginning of  February, for exactly on 5-6 February 2011, UGM held an event “Career Days” where prestigious companies participated in the event. I applied at one of the largest oil and gas service company, Schlumberger (read: Schlamberghze). And luckily in the day after, I got a message  from the Career Days’s comittee like this:

Alhamdulillah, and I went with Wulan who also passed the administration screening in the monday morning  earlier, it was at 6:30 am, to find the location of the test first (do not be late for the test!!). Then approached 08.00 o’clock  in the morning more people came and I knew some of them, like Aan, Mita, Damar, etc.. and the jobseeker made very long queues. Hahaha…fyuuh :0

Until the test’s time came, we were divided according to test numbers (i got number 010, hooray) and we walked into a room randomly but only 50 people had turn at once time. The first test was “3 minutes to be a star.” It was kinda short interview, each participant did the test without depend on the test numbers and you should take one question in front of the interviewer and give a good answer in English within no more 3 minutes. At that time I got 3rd turn  and my question was “If you were a manager, what would you do to make sure your team work safely?”. And Alhamdulillah I passed the 1st test. In my opinion, the officers were very professional because they could make decisions in a short time to choose 100 people of more than 1000 participants. My suggestion in this kind of test is, give a different answer, to the point and do not let you get blank even though only 5 seconds if you do not want to be stopped by the officer.

The 2nd test was written test, such as math, physics and kind of those. And they were all in english multiple choices. My advice to solve this kind of test is you should study about the SNMPTN or high school test because they are all still quite basic. Alhamdulillah I also passed this phase.

The 3rd test was english forum group discussion which directly held immediately after the announcement on the same day. Each group was divided into 5 members and all groups were given the same topic of discussion and we did it  by individual and group. The topic was general anyway, so take it easy and dont be worried ’cause everyone would be able to give an opinion as optimal as possible. And the officers would be distributed to each group to check our activity in the discussion group. And 30 or 45 minutes after,  each member of the group should present their work individually. so in this case, there wont be a person who too show off that do not give a chance for others to speak up. all participant will get a chance to speak up. My suggestion is tell your opinions with high self confidence and good language. I passed the test with 2 others from Elins. They are Wulan and Damar, yeiiii ^__^

The next test was interview in the hotel where the officers of SLB stayed, at that time it was located at Novotel Hotel. I got first turn to be interviewed. And beyond my expectation, i was directly interviewed by the user. oh My god! the questions were more about technical. unfortunately, I had to stop at this test hehe, it’s okay for me. I was already happy because that was my first experience in following the job test and other advantage was i can practice English in two days. hahaa.. nothing to lose anyway. the most important is the experience.

person who failed does not mean he/she is a failed person. because failure is a first gateway to get success. And remember, keep on dreaming because dreams will take you to a better future. And make these guidelines to guide us in pursuing our dreams :

God gives us what we need because God knows what are the best for us. If there are things we want but haven’t reached yet, it is not because God does not grant it for us but it could ONLY be postponed until it be the right time for us to get it OR God could just replace it with something else better for us. Maybe we just have not realized it yet
